Small group therapy is a powerful tool that provides a supportive environment where individuals can share experiences and insight, foster a sense of connection and understanding, and experience laughter and fun with peers. Facilitated by Brandi Smallwood, an experienced group therapist, this setting enhances personal growth, reduces feelings of isolation, and promotes healthier coping strategies. Groups are limited to no more than 8 participants.

NEW DBT Group

Teens 13 -17

Empower Your Teen with Tools for Emotional Balance, Stronger Relationships, and Confident Decision-Making.

Adolescence is a time of change, growth, and increasing emotional intensity. Our Thriving Teens DBT Skills Group is designed specifically for adolescents navigating the challenges of mood swings, social pressures, family conflicts, and overwhelming emotions. This evidence-based group blends psychoeducation with hands-on practice, helping teens build the skills they need to thrive—emotionally, socially, and academically.

Over 8 weeks, participants will learn skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—a gold-standard approach proven to reduce emotional reactivity, improve communication, and increase resilience. This group is ideal for teens who:

• Struggle with emotional ups and downs

• Experience anxiety, depression, or irritability

• Have difficulty managing friendships or family conflict

• Act impulsively or engage in risky behaviors

• Want to gain coping skills for stressful situations

*Prior to the first meeting, an initial assessment will be conducted to help determine group fit.

The group will meet 60 minutes once a week for 8 weeks. Group Day and time will be determined by group screening.

High School Girls

High school is a time where immense growth can happen. It is also a time that can be marked by peer pressure, academic stress, self-doubt, and a feeling of trying to find ones place in the world. This group is for girls in 9th through 12th grade for this school year.

The focus of the group will be to work on building resilience through therapeutic coping skills to help deal with topics such as, but not limited to:

Anxiety

Peer Pressure

Perfectionism

Leadership

Positive Self-Image

The group will meet once a week on Tuesday from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Participants signing up with solidify schedule. *Virtual an option.

Coming Spring of 2025

The group is $65 per session.

Middle School Girls

Middle School is a pivotal time where young minds start to learn about themselves through new friendships, challenges, and experiences. This group is for girls in 6th through 8th grade this school year.

The focus of the group will be to work on building skills (social and therapeutic) to help deal with topics such as, but not limited to:

Anxiety

Peer Communication

Perfectionism

Leadership

Emotion Regulation

Positive Self-Esteem

The group will meet once a week, tentatively on Wednesday from 4:30 - 5:30 PM. Participants signing up will solidify the time schedule.

Galaxy Guys

This group is for middle school boys in 6th through 8th grade for this school year.

The focus of the group will be to work on building therapeutic coping skills, through the themes of Star Wars, to help deal with topics such as, but not limited to:

Anger Management Like A Jedi

Dealing with Emotions Like Luke Skywalker

Friendship Lessons with Han and Chewbacca

Respecting Differences like the Rebel Alliance

Confidence Building with Rey’s Journey

The group will meet once a week, either on Mondays/Fridays at 3:30 to 4:30, or Saturdays at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Participants signing up will help determine final day/time schedule.

Pet Loss Support Group

This inclusive group is open for all that have lost a beloved pet(s). Pets come in all shapes and sizes and are more than just animals; they are family members, companions, and sources of unconditional love that light up our hearts.

This is meant to be a safe space to share personal stories, express emotions, and be in the presence of others that can relate. You are not alone! Grief is not linear, and this is an opportunity to heal together.

The will be an ongoing group that will meet once a week, on Mondays, virtually. This group does NOT require a confirmation to attend all sessions. You are welcome to attend at any time; however, you must sign up so we are aware of who will be in attendance.

Coming Spring of 2025

The group is $35 per session.

Monday time to be determined by participant request.

Groups work best if all members attend on a regular basis due to the small nature and dynamic of each group! When you sign up for a group, please confirm that you will be able to attend all session dates. You will be allowed to miss one session without charge, any absences after that will be charged the full rate. Initial assessments may be required to ensure appropriateness for group.

Mindful Transformations Counseling and Consulting is an out-of-network provider and does not take insurance. For group sessions, you will pay the full rate for each session. We are able to provide a super bill for group therapy services.
